Up bright and early, drove the 20 kms to the ranger station. Had our breakfast while we were waiting for it to open. We were 2nd in line. When the ranger arrived we were given a spot at Ned's Campsite (WA 478) We then drove down there to choose our site and met our hosts who look after their little campsite area. Chose our spot and took off to do some sightseeing. The Harold E Holt Very Low Frequency transmitter is nearby - it is the tallest man made structure in the southern hemisphere. It's the one with the little white hut under it. They are doing very hush hush stuff around here.
Went to the top of the hill where the lighthouse is and took possibly the best shot i have taken this trip. See what you think.
You even see the oil rig platforms from up here.
Went to the Visitors Center and then went back to set up camp.
This is the walkway to the beach.
And part of the beach.
I decided to start reading the new Dan Brown novel that bought in Broome. Great way to spend an afternoon while Jeff went fishing. At 5pm the people at our campsite - 16 sites all gathered for Happy Hour. A more spectacular happy hour you would be hard pressed to find. Wonderful setting, lovely people so we decided another day was required here.
